Hematology is the study of blood and blood disorders. Hematologists and hematopathologists are highly trained healthcare providers who specialize in diseases of the blood and blood components. These include blood and bone marrow cells. Hematological tests can help diagnose anaemia, infection, haemophilia, blood-clotting disorders, and leukaemia.
Four major areas of study within Hematology include hemoglobinopathy, hematologic malignancies, anaemia and coagulopathy.
Hemoglobinopathy is the study of abnormality in the globin chains of haemoglobin molecules. In addition to sickle cell anaemia, thalassemia (also known as erythropoiesis) is part of hemoglobinopathy.
Laboratory haematology encompasses all blood tests, and provides both quantitative and qualitative characteristics of analysed blood.
The Haematology department is well-equipped with all the advanced technologies and the staff is trained in performing latest and efficient techniques to provide excellent patient care. The patient’s safety, comfort and satisfaction are the main priorities of our team. The efficient clinical team in the Haematology department ensures to deliver definite, detailed and on time laboratory test reports to the patients.
